Tools required:
Medium pozi-drive screwdriver
5mm box spanner (nut runner)
3/8inchAF ring spanner
- Disconnect the mains power connector from the rear of the FOX-8.
- Disconnect the fibre and RJ-45 cables from the front of the unit.
- If unit is installed within a racking system unscrew rack retaining screws
and remove FOX-8 from rack ( retains screws ).
- Undo screws on both sides of FOX-8 ( 2 screws each side ) to remove rack
mount brackets and lift FOX-8 cover ( retain screws ).
- NEW MODULE Carefully remove red dust-caps, nuts and washers from
the 2 fibre ports ( retain nuts and washers).
- Offer up new module to inside of front panel ( use next free channel ie.
CH2 ), carefully inserting fibre ports and RJ-45 port through corresponding
holes. Two of the holes in the PCB should also align with the captive nuts
in the base of the unit.
- Place washer and nut over each fibre port and tighten nut ( HAND TIGHT ONLY
).
- Insert threaded stand-off pillars (supplied with new module ) into captive
nuts that are visible through PCB holes and tighten
( HAND TIGHT ONLY ).
- Check module is correctly aligned in case ( compare with other channel ).
- Using 3/8 inch AF ring spanner GENTLY tighten nuts retaining fibre ports
( DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN ).
- Using 5mm box spanner GENTLY tighten stand-off pillars securing PCB ( DO
NOT OVER TIGHTEN).
- Place lid on case, align rack mount brackets and secure with the screws
( 2 screws each side ).
- Insert FOX-8 unit into rack and secure with screws.
- Plug mains connector into rear of unit.
( the power indicators of the modules should illuminate when power is applied
to the unit ).
