This card is designed to plug into your motherboard, from which it obtains its 5 volt power supply.

You will need to connect the STP socket to the one on your PC via a suitable patch cable. The card is supplied with the STP socket configured as a HUB so a straight through cable to your PC will give a good link

You can alter this configuration by changing the orienation of the jump links as indicated.
