TECHNICAL DESCRIPTION :
The Multiplexer is a 16 channel unit with end to end modem controls. Various connect options are available to suit individual requirements. The unit can also be used in a synchronous mode with the full 16 channel.

Clock may be either internally or externally derived in the case of external clocking the external clock is applied to channel 1 and all others locks are then locked to this. This faciltiy allows the use of modem tails.

Error detection is provided giving both detection and the near and far end multiplexers. The unit has a large dynamic input range allowing coupling of the units with a wide range of Fibre and distances. All line go to the off state with no Optical Unit. The Multiplexer can be free standing or supplied with bracket for 19" racking. Option to add second control line (far end error indicator deleted)

Four baud rates are available 19.2, 9.6, 4.8 and 2.4K baud. Channel 1 to 8 must use the same baud rate but channels 9 to 16 can be set at another rate- see switch appendix.
