TECHNICAL DESCRIPTION : The VolAmp fibre optic transceiver has been designed to a high level of performance
and in accordance with ISO, IEEE and ECMA standards. The VES 8000P will transmit and receive over fibre optic links in excess of
2km and connect with VolAmp range of fibre optic Converters and other IEEE 802.3
products. SPECIFICATION : Electrical :- Power required from AUI interface ;10.4V to 14V@150mA

Connections are made to the standard AUI port and the fibre optic transmit and
receive ports.
The AUI port can be connected to either DTE's or other ethernet devices that
have standard AUI interfaces. The fibre optic connectors are via ST or SMA connectors
and will accept 50/125, 62.5/125 or 100/140 fibres without adjustment. An externally
set switch selects the SQE test - OFF for connection to repeater and ON for
connection with DTE's if required.
As well as confirming to the IEEE 802.3 for transceivers the additional requirements
of the Optical interface Repeater Link are met, namely:
- idle signal modulation.
- loop back of data.
- jabber protection
- loss of light detection and indication.
